The World Malayalee Council (WMC) was established on July 3, 1995, in New Jersey during the inaugural World Convention of Non-Resident Malayalees. It serves as a non-sectarian, non-political community organization aimed at uniting the global Malayalee community. WMC fosters friendship and fellowship among Malayalees worldwide and offers various platforms for training, empowerment, service, support, and charity.

Objectives:

• Cultural Connection: Strengthen the common bonds of culture, tradition, and way of life among the widely scattered community of people of Malayalee/Kerala origin.
• Global Networking: Create a dynamic link between the Malayalee diaspora and their motherland to enhance and empower the social capital of the community.
• Community Empowerment: Provide platforms for training, empowerment, service, support, and charity to uplift and support Malayalees globally.

WMC operates through a structured framework comprising a global council, regional councils (including America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, India, Far East, and Australia), and local units known as Provincial Councils. This extensive network enables WMC to effectively address the needs and aspirations of Malayalees across 53 countries.

By promoting international brotherhood, cultural uniqueness, and mutual understanding, WMC continues to play a pivotal role in connecting and empowering Malayalees worldwide.

Mr. Kannatt Surendran is the current Vice-Chairman for World Malayalee Council.

Kannatt Surendran is the founder of Kannatts Group and Managing Director
of SJS Avenues LLP — a Hyderabad-based real estate development company
specialising in HMDA-approved plotted developments and gated communities
across Hyderabad’s high-growth corridors.

With 15+ years of experience in real estate, property management, and
business development across Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and
Bengaluru, Mr. Surendran has overseen more than 5 million sq ft of real
estate transactions through Kannatts Group companies including Bounty
Property Management and Keyprop Property Management.

He is an active member of:

– Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FTCCI)
– Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC)

He serves as Global Vice President of the Pravasi World Malayalee Council
(PWMC) and Chairman of the Telangana All In Malayalee Association. In 2024,
he received the Business Excellence Award from the World Malayalee Council
(WMC) at their Global Business Conclave in London.
